Doyenne’s Den #1541: Ethnomusicologist Aja Burrell Wood

Due to licensing restrictions, this episode is unavailable to our U.S. listeners.

Discussing her love of music, the debate around the (so-called) “changing face of soul and R&B,” and her soulful Christmas playlist, tDD is excited to welcome Aja Burrell Wood (@ajatheethnomusicologist) tonight (and all the way from Uptown)! Aja is a Harlem-based ethnomusicologist who teaches African American music at The New School and Brooklyn College Conservatory. Her research includes jazz in the digital era, music and civic engagement in Harlem, and musical community amongst black classical musicians.
